Privacy Policy — YouTube Channel Folders
Last updated: 2026-06-01
YouTube Channel Folders is a browser extension that lets you group YouTube
channels into folders and view their recent uploads. This policy explains what
data the extension handles.
No account, no login
The extension does not require a Google, YouTube, or any other login. It does not
collect your name, email, or identity.
What is stored, and where
-
Locally (default): your folders, the channels in them, a cache
of channel names/avatars, and per-folder “unread” state are stored
in your browser’s local extension storage. This data never leaves your
device unless you turn on sync.
-
Sync (optional): if you choose to link devices with a sync
code, your folder list — folder names, folder emoji, and the channel ids in
each folder — is stored on our sync backend so it can be shared across your
browsers. This data is stored as plaintext (it is not end-to-end encrypted).
The sync code is the only credential; anyone with it can read and write that
folder list. We do not store an email or any recoverable identity tied to it.
What is NOT collected
- No browsing history, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no tracking.
-
We do not use the YouTube Data API. Upload information is read from YouTube’s
public RSS feeds by your own browser.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
Network requests
-
Your browser fetches public YouTube pages/RSS feeds to resolve channels and load
upload feeds.
-
If sync is enabled, your browser communicates with the sync backend to store and
retrieve your folder list.
Removing your data
- Local data: removing the extension clears its local storage.
-
Synced data: unlinking sync removes the local link; contact us to delete the
server-stored copy associated with a sync code.
